Today the group had to learn some carpentry in order to make the solar ovens. Finding decent wood was a challenge, but we have two ovens half way done. One will be used for baking our large solar panels with a new method and the other will be half the size and will be used for cooking for a family. The smaller oven we will give to a woman who will learn how to use it and then form a group of women to transform the cooking habits so they can benefit from this simpler, and cost saving method of cooking. They are used to stirring the pot over a hot wood or gas fire. In the solar oven they will not touch the food once it has been put in the oven. They only have to turn the oven every half hour to follow the sun. We will see if they adopt this method well enough to make a business out of the manufacture of the ovens.
