It has been three long years since I have been able to visit Niger. Some of the kids that are going to junior high and High school in Agadez came by to visit me at my hotel. They are growing up so fast. Awalawal left is now taller than I am. Tefeste in blue has decided to go into medicine and is doing health care studies. She intends to one day return to work at our clinic at Tamesna. Salima is in her first year of junior high.
At the hotel, they got to meet Paul Sereno, who just discovered what he believes is the largest ever dinosaur–a new species in Niger. He encouraged them to become paleontologists since their country is so rich in hidden dinosaur bones and ancient civilizations yet to be discovered. He has big plans for museums to celebrate this treasure in Agadez and Niamey. Our center for nomadic life is in the heart of dinosaur territory.
