The Boston University Niger Study abroad alumni have mounted an amazing campaign to aid in the current devastating famine in Niger. They are counting on the Nomad Foundation to wisely use the funds they have worked so hard to raise: to date 97 contributions totaling $4985.
The most efficient way of distributing food to the widely dispersed nomadic population is to do this at a nomadic gathering which always take place during or just after the rains. This tradition allows them to get together–they are very difficult to find when they are in their migratory pattern. They know that if there is any help for them–it will be at a festival.
Our first use of these funds will be at Afoukada, near Ingall, Niger in the third week in August. We will keep you posted.
AND THANK YOU BOSTON UNIVERSITY ALUMNI
