Fatima Daouel is a Tuareg from Aboye who has attended 146 births without a single maternal mortality. She is renowned for her ability to turn breeches (bottom or feet first) into the safer head-first position and is a great teacher having a calm, patient demeanor. (Maybe best of all, she appreciates our jokes!) (Not easy to tell through 2 interpreters.)

Fatima welcomes her “patient” Lalli who has just gone into “labor” (to deliver a pillow) with Abulkou in assistance.
