Keeping bacteria to a minimum is essential in the delivery of a newborn to prevent dangerous infection in both the mothers and babies. The midwives were issued gloves and taught the proper way of putting them on. They, after some struggle, succeeded.
The midwives were issued important equipment to help them deliver babies safely. Most of them do not know how to read a watch so we suspended that part until their children can teach them.
Some of the older women then needed glasses to read the watches.
The crucial element of telephoning for advice is impossible for these women without the possibility of recharging their phones. So we provided them with cel phone chargers made in our solar program.
Dear Midwives!
You are just so awesome!!!! I see in your faces in these and the other pictures( that Leslie took up close) just a most sincere desire to help, to learn, to succeed in what you are being taught.
I am the mother of 4 children and i know how important it is to have someone working with you and for you to bring that most precious new life into this world!
God Bless you all in this new knowledge and know that you are all stars just like the ones that shine so brightly above the Sahara in the evening sky!

God Bless you for all your encouragement–your comments are so appreciated when we think we are so far away doing work that no one is paying any attention to. It helps to know someone is watching us. Thanks Linda Lamb.
