Dr Skankey very carefully planned and organized the medicines necessary for the midwives.
He labeled according to their ability to read and then went through several repetitions of explanations of the use and dosage. Then Aicha interpreted the explanations in the two different languages necessary.
This was a crucial process as the medications, in addition to prenatal vitamins, included antibiotics and one necessary to stop hemmorhage. No woman was given medicines unless she passed the test to prove she understood their use and dose. One of the woman could not so we had to withhold the antibiotics from her for the time being. We will follow up on this in a mission to her community at the end of the month to see if some one else there can prove understanding and help with this.
