Since we have worked so long with musicians–since 1995 when we brought the first African artist, Prince Sissokho, a kora player from Senegal to the US, we have sponsored five music tours of Tuareg musicians. One of our drivers, Alhassane, was part of the group who toured. He loves to work with children so will be the director of the music program. He will go out to Tamesna once a month on a weekend to teach all the children who are interested how to play the guitar. Given the way the Tuareg take to guitar music and its popularity among them, I am sure one day one of our former students will be competing in our annual music festival.
Oh my goodness!
A perfect fit for the program.
Alhassane will impart not
Only his love for music but his
Spirit and feel for the traditions
With the guitar.
