First stop the cure salee where nomads gather to celebrate. I love these annual festivals–the Wodaabe all painted up and performing and the Tuareg running around on camels.
I was delighted to see our hand washing system that Larry Beckett introduced in 2013 when making the Roadtrip Niger film. It has been adopted and several stations were in use at the festival.
We went to to visit Tamesna–very happy that we weren’t in tents when this storm showed up.
Sidi is determined to rehabilitate the ostrich population in the Sahara which was decimated during the Tuareg rebellions–so these new residents of Tamesna will be a start.
Here is the class who all passed and will attend junior high school this year–school start 1 October. We’re working on getting them set up but have to meet with their parents first–not easy to round up all these nomads.
Well as usual Leslie you hit the ground running
Great pictures to show us
The kids have grown so much
Since I last saw them
Love Larry’s water jug!
Be safe stay strong
Greetings to all
