Nomadic children rarely have the opportunity to get an education. Since their economy is based on mobile herding, they often must move with their parents to find pasture to feed the animals from which they live. Although many do not continue to advanced education, learning to read, write, speak French and calculate sums gives them an advantage that often leads to their becoming leaders of their community. Even if they have only finished grammar school.
Tamesna school started in 2012 in a mat covered hangar. Issouf pictured below was our guardian. When the Niger government recognized Tamesna as an official administrative center, Issouf was elected traditional chief. His three oldest children: Tefest left, Ahmed right and Nesboune center pictured here in 2012, have now continued to advance their education with your support. Tefest is in nursing school, Ahmed in high school and Nesboune in junior high.
