The kids came back early from easter break to see me and show off their new skills. We now have two classes but both are taught by one teacher as we have not found a good second teacher–hoping for next fall. There are 18 students in CI (cours initiative) or kindergarten and 26 in CP (cours primaire) or first grade. The second year (CP) kids are amazing. Here is an example of two of the letters they wrote to thank their sponsors: from Aghaichita Faretane and Mouhamed Amoumine:

Aghaichita Feretane
Tijit Malate (name of the location–refers to a mountain and means white dog in Tamachek)
1 April 2014 Thank you
I thank my sponsor for the aid that he/she has given us, which consists of building the school, food and cooking utensils, classroom supplies.
Such wonderful progress, the kids sure are growing up and thriving!
I am so impressed with them–I can’t believe how great their handwriting is–this is only their second year in school–the equivalent of first grade. These kids are future leaders.
Iam very impressed. Would love to know what the letters say. The sponsors must be very happy.
Congratulations Leslie and your team for making excellent progress. All kids deserve access to healthy food and learning. Nutiva is glad to support these outstanding efforts.
We look forward to hearing more exciting news as you bring good energy to this region.
Such good read, makes me happy to see their smiling faces.
