Tamesna school 2017

October 23, 2017 by leslieclark 2 Comments

Our grammar school at Tamesna started earlier than most bush schools because we have a committed director in Assadek (back left)  There were already 27 kids present and we expect 15 more.  10 graduated to junior high for which they had to go to Ingal and Agadez.

I presented the top boy in class, Mohamed Faretane, with a small swiss army knife to encourage him this year–he sang us a beautiful song–I’ll upload it when I get home and a better internet connection.
His sister and brother have now graduated and are attending Junior high.

The top girl in class, Nesboune Issouf, got a small gold necklace.  Her brother and sister are now in Agadez attending junior high. These two families–Issouf and Faretane and the Achenanas family are the core of our school and the brightest of the students. Each family has 5 in school and the kids all vie for top of their class.

We are building a new classroom which will double as a dormitory for the boarders. We were delayed because of extreme rains this year, but hope to have it finished by mid November. Thank you Rotary.

Can’t wait to meet this school
Director look at the illustrations drawn on the chalkboard! EDUCATION is key-always has and always
Will be. So proud of the students hard work and
Their willingness to do so-this gem in the desert in the bush in the middle of nomadic routes in the middle
    Of nowhere to us but
    Everything to these students
    And their families
    Awesome!
