As we prepared to leave Niamey I was at the Grand Hotel. I learned that much of the Tuareg leadership was there including Aghali Alambo, the leader of the rebellion of 2007-9. He had just flown in from Libya the night before at the invitation of the new government. This is a very good sign. Perhaps this government will accept that the Tuareg deserve to have a say in their own territory. If they can work together, all will be much better off. Things are looking up for Niger.
