Volunteers–Sherri and Jennifer

December 5, 2012 by leslieclark Leave a Comment

We are lucky to have volunteers join us for each trip.  This time we had two great ones–Sherri Hanna and Jennifer Hall.  Sherri had been to Niger because she breeds and raises Fennec foxes who inhabit  the Sahara in Niger and and visited with the Sahara Conservation fund.  She wanted to go back to experience the cultures.  Jennifer is a newly graduated nurse who is interested in incorporating international humanitarian work into her career.  They were a great team who really jumped in to help in every situation.  Our volunteers not only give their time and effort, but pay their own way and expenses in country so their participation helps fund our missions.  Sherri and Jennifer were there wherever we needed them and more.  Here are a few examples:

Sherri and Jennifer teaching numbers to the trainees so they can take blood pressure.

Jennifer and Sherri organizing and taking inventory of meds.

Explaining infant CPR to the matrones.

Sherri fits eyeglasses donated from Eyes on Africa to Aboulkou.

Jennifer explains taking blood pressure to Kazawane.

Sherri trying camel milk during one of our nomad camp visits.

Jennifer waiting in the examination tent at Taghachirt where the matrones examined pregnant patients with Dr. Bob’s oversight.

Thanks so much to Sherri and Jennifer. You were a joy to travel with and a lot of help–I hope you come back one day.

Bye for now,
